• MOTORVISION TV to show more motorsports around the world than ever before
  • English and French feed in Europe and Africa to carry live broadcasts for the very first time
  • Acquired series include European Le Mans Series, TCR Europe Touring Car Series, British GT Championship and Blancpain GT Series
  • Note: These live broadcasts will not be shown on the German MOTORVISION TV

Munich, 25 April 2019 – Race fever, thrills, wet hands, booming engines and squeaking tires: Since 2010, MOTORVISION TV has been broadcasting live motorsports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and been the premier destination for NASCAR fans in the region. Now it’s international sister channel follows suit and is set to become the new home of motorsports in Europe (excluding the UK, Portugal and the German-speaking area) and Africa with the acquisition of its biggest motorsports portfolio yet. The new rights package includes about 20 racing series and live broadcasts for the very first time.

The action-packed motorsports season kicks off on MOTORVISION TV on Sunday, April 28 with the live broadcast of the first round of the TCR Europe Touring Car Series and the second round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge America. In the upcoming weeks, the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe, Blancpain GT Endurance Cup, European Le Mans Series, Michelin Le Mans Cup, Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival, two rounds of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, the 24 Hours of Spa and the British GT Championship will join the roster of motorsport series that will be broadcast live on MOTORVISION TV throughout Europe and Africa.

In addition to these live broadcasts, a slate of highlight magazines will complement the motorsports portfolio on MOTORVISION TV. Returning from 2018 are programs for every race of the ADAC GT Masters and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. These returning series will be joined by new highlight shows from the FIM Motocross World Championship, the FIM Enduro World Championship, Tour European Rally and Tour European Rally Historic. Formula E Street Racers, the official feature magazine show about the premier-racing series for electric powered cars, will also be part of the MOTORVISION TV schedule.

The launch of live broadcasts in Europe and Africa means that MOTORVISION TV will split its international channel into two independent feeds. But racing fans in Asia won’t miss out on the action-packed motorsports season. They can look forward to watching more motorsports on MOTORVISION TV than ever before, too. The second international channel will provide highlights magazines from all racing series that are broadcast on the European and African feed.

Raimund Koehler, CEO of MOTORVISION TV, explains the strategy: “MOTORVISION TV covers every aspect of the world of cars, bikes and engines. Motorsports has always been a part of our successful programming mix and helped us to increase our distribution in Europe and Africa significantly. So it’s only a natural step for us, to get into live broadcasts outside of our home country, too. That way, we can offer our audiences and partners an ever more exciting and engaging TV experience. MOTORVISION TV is a must-see channel for every petrol head and racing fan in Europe, Africa and beyond.”

Please note: The mentioned series won’t be broadcast live on the MOTORVISION TV channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. However, MOTORVISION TV has previously announced an expansion of live broadcasts in the German-speaking area, too. In 2019, the German feed continues to broadcast all 36 point races of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. These broadcasts are accompanied by 20 races of the recently launched MOTORVISION eSport Xtreme Series, which is the first-ever SimRacing series to be broadcast on German television.
