Sports fans can look forward to a new TV channel! Media manager Zeljko Karajica and SEH Sports & Entertainment Holding have acquired a majority stake in the existing channel eoTV. Raimund Koehler, Managing Director of the Motorvision Group, which took over the channel last spring, is at his side as a strong partner. Together, they are now launching More Than Sports TV with an attractive program mix on free TV.
More Than Sports TV goes on air on 19 June, parallel to the kick-off of the European League of Football – and shows the opening match between Panthers Wroczlaw and Cologne Centurions live! In the premiere season, the channel will broadcast the games of the continental league that cannot be seen exclusively on ProSieben MAXX or on ran.de. All matches will be broadcast in full length as replays, plus other formats around the European League of Football.
But that’s not all: Once a month, the German MMA Championship (GMC) presents itself with a Fight Night live on More Than Sports TV. Then viewers can expect fights by multiple kickboxing world champion Michael Smolik or the reigning GMC champion Kerim Engizek, among others, as well as talks, documentaries, mixed martial arts classics and the new reality show “Fighthouse”. More Than Sports TV thus becomes the “Home of MMA” in Germany.
Esport fans will also be entertained by various formats on More Than Sports TV. Deep insights into the scene will be provided by the internationally successful organization Unicorns of Love, which is supported by SEH Sports & Entertainment Holding as the main shareholder. Europe’s largest and most modern gaming house is being built in Hamburg, which will serve as the headquarters of the “Unicorns” and deliver unique esports content.
Motorsport remains a core topic of the channel. As with eoTV, Motorvision Holding supplements the 24/7 programming of More Than Sports TV with high-quality broadcasts, reports, documentaries and classics from the areas of rallying and motorcycling, as well as magazines such as Bike World and Biker Lifestyle or Cars + Life and Road Wars. More Than Sports TV will be available via Magenta TV, waipu.tv, Amazon FireTV, Zattoo and Swisscom, reaching more than 15 million households. In the next step, distribution via the cable network is planned.
The new channel will also be available via its own device-independent app in the near future. Until this is launched, the program, including live matches from the European League of Football, can be viewed via the existing eoTV app, which is available to download free of charge.
In the future, the free-TV channel will be operated by MV Sendebetriebsgesellschaft mbH, based in Munich. In addition to Zeljko Karajica, Motorvision CEO Raimund Köhler is part of the management team, which includes Franziska Kaltenegger as Program Director, Heiko Gebendorfer (Broadcast Planning) and Andreas Schaefer as Director Sales & Marketing, who will cooperate closely with Hamburg-based More Than Sports GmbH, the marketing unit of SEH Sports & Entertainment Holding.
“Anyone who is passionate about sports will get their money’s worth. More Than Sports TV offers attractive and exclusive content from increasingly popular areas. Football, but also mixed martial arts and esports are recording strongly growing fan groups,” says Zeljko Karajica, who was part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group’s Management Board until 2020 and previously combined DSF’s TV offering and the online platform Sport1 into one brand in this role.
Motorvision CEO Raimund Koehler is pleased about the cooperation: “After the acquisition of eoTV in February 2020, we had set ourselves the goal of meaningfully expanding and repositioning the program to our successful and male-oriented content from the automotive and motorsports sectors to expand its reach. With Zeljko Karajica, we have found the perfect partner to establish More Than Sports TV as a free-TV channel through unique content.”
